DALLAS, Nov. 17 - A visit from a friendly pup also might be terrific medicine for an ailing heart, researchers reported here. In a random study involving 76 hospitalized heart-failure patients, UCLA researchers found that anxiety scores dropped an average of 24% after one arm of the study interacted with pairs of human volunteers and cardio canines, a dozen different breeds.
